Los Altos Parent Preschool is a community of parents and educators committed to providing an enriching environment for our children through parent education, parent involvement and mutual support.

We foster imagination and individuality in each child. We understand that children, parents and staff are growing, and that the process of growth involves mistakes. Individuals will be treated with respect, compassion, acceptance and encouragement as they work toward their goals.

Our philosophy is based on the principles outlined by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We are a child-centered, developmentally appropriate, anti-bias program that focuses on the whole child.

We value the imagination and creativity of each child and the individuality of every family enrolled in our program.

Through active exploration, adult-led projects and self-directed play, children are exposed to the sciences, literacy, number skills, geography, cooking, woodworking, art, music, drama, gardening, and nature. Due to the rich environment, each child is sure to find activities and projects which are enticing to him or her. We provide children ample opportunities to learn through play, as this is the most effective way for them to explore ideas and integrate new information into their lives.

Our emphasis on conflict resolution and problem-solving helps children grow socially and emotionally and helps them develop confidence and the ability to assert themselves appropriately. We use positive discipline and offer children opportunities to be successful in their relationships with peers and adults.
